In MLB The Show 26, player quirks are special abilities that give situational boosts or unique gameplay effects. They make star players stand out and can be the difference between winning and losing tight games. Understanding how to access and use them is key to dominating on the diamond.
How to Access and View Quirks
There are a few ways to see a player's quirks:
Player Cards: In Diamond Dynasty or while browsing rosters, click a player’s card and go to the Quirks tab. Here you can see all active abilities and their in-game icons.
In-Game Menus: While playing, pause the game and check the batter’s or pitcher’s profile to see which quirks are active.
Road to the Show (RTTS) Loadouts: For created players, quirks appear as Perks. You’ll need to equip them in the Loadout screen for them to take effect.
Unlocking and Using Quirks
Diamond Dynasty
You cannot manually add quirks here. Each card comes with pre-set quirks. For example, Aaron Judge’s base card has multiple quirks that reflect his real-life strengths.
Road to the Show
Attribute Thresholds: Some quirks unlock automatically when your stats reach certain levels. For example, the Bomber quirk might appear once your Power hits 85+, while Speedster could unlock at high Speed ratings.
Milestones: Performing specific feats—like hitting in clutch situations or striking out a lot of batters—can unlock additional quirks over time.
Franchise Mode
Young players will develop quirks naturally as their attributes improve. If you want, you can manually assign quirks using the Edit Player tool, though this may make the season feel less realistic.
Quirk Stacking
Quirks stack when multiple are active at once. For instance, a player with both Homebody and Day Player quirks will get extra attribute boosts when playing a home game during the day. Learning to leverage stacked quirks can give you a serious edge in close matches.
